Academic Forum of the 10th Anniversary of School of Medicine, UESTC themed “Medicine-Engineering Interdisplinary Research: Safeguard the Health of Women and Children” concludes successfully
To celebrate the 10th Anniversary of School of Medicine, UESTC, established in 2013, the Disciplinary Construction Promotion Conference for the School of Medicine was held on December 17, 2023. The academic forum, themed “Medicine-Engineering Interdisplinary Research: Safeguard the Health of Women and Children” and organized by the Affiliated Women’s and Children’s Hospital (Chengdu Women’s and Children’s Central Hospital), was successfully held in Shahe Campus.
Professor Feng Zhichun, President of the Bayi Children's Hospital Affiliated to the Seventh Medical Center of the Chinese PLA General Hospital, Professor Zhao Xiaodong, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Children's Hospital of Chongqing Medical University, Professor Wang Xiaodong, Executive Deputy President of Sichuan University West China Second University Hospital, Professor Chen Chunlin, Director of the Research and Teaching Office at Nanfang Hospital of Southern Medical University, Professor Hu Lina from the Second Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University, Professor Keith Maurice Kendrick from the UESTC Life Science and Technology College, and Professor Yang Xiao, Deputy President of CWCCH were invited to and lectured at the conference, gathering over 100 participants.
Wu Ying, Director of the Science and Education Department of the CWCCH, chaired the conference. Tang Hongmei, Deputy Secretary of the CPC and President of the CWCCH, delivered an opening speech at the ceremony. She expressed that the interdisciplinary field of medical and engineering is filled with challenges and opportunities. It combines theories and practices of medicine and engineering, providing new approaches and methods to tackle increasingly complex medical issues and making important contributions to the improvement of human health and well-being.
The research findings and practical experiences shared by the experts during this conference are expected to inspire the participants to be more innovative and make greater breakthroughs and progress in the field of medical and engineering interdisciplinary studies, opening a new chapter for women's and children's health.
